Spend 9 days getting a little taste of Uganda’s prime attractions. Visit the gorillas, enjoy the sight and sounds of the capital, Kampala, meet cheeky chimpanzees, take a safari and take a tour on the Nile river.

You will be received at Entebbe international airport by one of our guides and transferred to your hotel in Kampala.
After your breakfast, we will head into the city center and take a walking tour of the central business district of the city of Kampala. The tour covers the main streets, markets, significant monuments and landmarks.
Learn about the famous events of the 70’s when Idi Amin evicted Asians from their shops on Kampala road, visit the largest market in the country and get to also try public transport on Uganda’s popular taxis known as boda bodas. The tour will be capped with a visit to a craft market for some souvenir shopping and a stop at a local restaurant for lunch. Later in the evening, if jet lag has not set in, you can go experience a local jazz band or a cultural concert.

Fort Portal is a small town five hours drive west of Kampala. This early morning journey leads you to some of the most beautiful parts of Uganda. The journey is marked by small trading towns, lash green hills covered with banana and tea plantations. Your lodge is located just outside Fort Portal town on the edge of Kibale forest.
The lodge is tucked in an evergreen forest with monkeys swinging through the trees with rare birds and butterflies fluttering around. You will have the rest of the afternoon to enjoy the lodge. You can also take an afternoon stroll through a nearby village or visit a nearby swamp and encounter various primates that live there.

After breakfast, we will head to Kibale forest. The forest is home to one of the highest populations of chimpanzees in the world and offers one of the best place to encounter chimpanzees in the wild. The forest is also home to many other primates and wildlife species. This morning you will take a guided walk into the forest with the help of a ranger to track down one of the chimpanzee families. This 4-hour adventure offers such an exhilarating and insightful experience of the chimps in the wild.
After your adventure, we will take a three hours’ drive south to Queen Elizabeth national park, a popular safari destination. At Queen Elizabeth park, we will embark on a boat and enjoy a safari adventure on the Kazinga channel. The channel connects two lakes, Edward and George and is a popular spot for several African wildlife. Sightings of elephants, buffalos, hippos and crocodiles are common.

On this day, we will head further south to explore a unique part of Queen Elizabeth known as the Ishasha sector. The sector is famous for tree climbing lions which is a rare phenomenon in lions. It’s a three-hour drive to your lodge, and after lunch, you will head out for a game driving adventure. In addition to lions, herds of elephants, topis, kobs and buffalos are commonly sighted.

After your breakfast, you will begin the climb up the mountains to Bwindi Impenetrable forest. This three hours’ drive is filled with scenic views of mountain sides, valleys and terraced slopes. You will make it in time for lunch. You have the rest of the day to relax and prepare for the next day’s hike.

You will make an early start and head to the park headquarters for briefing and starting of your trekking expedition. The Bwindi forest is located in the volcanic highlands of the Virunga mountains. This intimidating and thick tropical jungle is home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.
You will be immersed in the mysterious intimacy of the rainforest, alive with colorful bird calls. Upon sighting the gorillas, you will spend a full hour with them as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing and raising their young. Coming face to face with these magnificent creatures is one of wildlife’s greatest fairy tale moments.

After your gorilla trekking experience, you will begin this slow 5-6 hours’ journey winding through mountains and hidden volcanic lakes all the way to Kigali. You make short stops along the way to take in the views and also have lunch.

Depending on your flight schedule, you can take in a city tour in the morning, visit the genocide memorial in Kigali, and then later catch your return flight back home.
