Enjoy game viewing in two of Kenya’s Iconic safari destinations: Amboseli national park and Masai Mara Game Reserve, as you track the big 5, and experience the colorful Maasai culture.
Arrive in Nairobi and get transferred from the airport to your hotel.
Spend the day in Nairobi. Visit Nairobi’s major attractions such as the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, the giraffe center, the Karen Blixen Museum and the Bomas Kenya.
Set off early and head to Amboseli National Park, located south on the border of Kenya and Tanzania. After checking in to your lodge, head out for an afternoon game drive. Experience the surreal game viewing experience in the dry Amboseli plains with the towering Mt Kilimanjaro in the background. Enjoy sightings of large herds of elephants and the Big 5.
Delve deeper into the park, and lookout for species you may have missed on your first drive. The park is dotted with papyrus swamps that are a hub of activity for many large mammals such as the elephants, rhinos and hippos.
Set off early and drive to Lake Naivasha located in the Great rift valley. The lake is a bird haven and is a popular rest stop for safari travelers in transit to the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. You have the option to rest or choose from a number of activities below.
Add-on activities
Take a boat safari
The most popular attraction is taking a guided boat safari on the Lake. The lake is home to a variety of birds from pelicans to kingfishers and other smaller and brightly colored birds. The waters are also home to hippos, and along the shore you will spot Cape buffalos and other herbivores.
Explore Hell’s Gate National Park.
Considered one of Kenya’s most naturally beautiful parks, with spectacular landscapes and scenery. Hell’s Gate national park is not as intimidating as its name suggests. The park is made up of unique volcanic formations consisting of red earth, towering pillars and cliffs. You can hike some of the scenic canyons or take a mountain bike ride on its dusty roads.
Walk with animals at Crescent Island
Combine a boat tour with a visit to Crescent Island. There are no predators residing in the sanctuary, therefore you can literally walk on foot among Zebras, Giraffes and Wildebeest on the Island.
Transfer to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. After lunch, head out on a game drive and witness how the Mara plains and rivers are busting with wildlife. The reserve is home to the Big 5 and other wildlife such as the Maasai giraffe, hippos, wildebeest, zebras, Thompson’s gazelles and cheetahs.
Head out early before dawn for a full day game drive. Go further and deeper into the reserve, in search of species you may have missed on your first drive. In the afternoon, visit a Maasai village and learn about the Maasai people’s customs and way of life.
Drive back to Nairobi. Take an afternoon break or head out and get some shopping done for your souvenirs.
Transfer to the airport and get on to your return flight back home.
