Healthcare has improved greatly in Uganda. There’s more access to medical assistance than ever before and the life expectancy levels have risen. However there still remains great challenges to overcome. For example, due to high literacy levels, a lot of people still lack basic health education which could be the difference between living and dying.
The local partners we work with are involved in both improving access to healthcare and also conducting public health education. If you are a medical practitioner, this is great way to make a difference. If you are a medical student, it’s a great way of gaining hands on experience and learning how to deal with challenges of a different kind.
However, this is program is not only suitable for medical practitioners but also anyone who loves to teach and has great compassion for people. You could spend a couple of weeks training young moms in infancy care or teaching a community about nutrition and hygiene.
