On this tour, we combine a visit to both Kibale and Bwindi forests to see some of East Africa’s renowned great apes; the mountain gorillas of Bwindi impenetrable forest, and the chimpanzees of Kibale Forest. Kibale Forest, famously known as the primate capital of the world, while Bwindi Forest is home of some of the world’s only remaining wild mountain gorillas. Are you a big cat lover? Arrive at Entebbe International Airport, where you will be received by our representative and a team member from The Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO). You will then be escorted to your vehicle, which will transport you to your hotel in Entebbe, located near the airport. Check in and enjoy the hotel amenities.
Check out of your hotel and catch your 1030 AM flight from EBB to Kihihi. The driver will be waiting to take you to your lodge in the Buhoma sector of Bwindi. Check into the lodge, have lunch, and later, visit the Batwa community. These are the original forest inhabitants, famous for their small stature and forest traditions, and are now recognized as “the keepers of the Bwindi forest.”
Enjoy an early breakfast/packed breakfast, then leave the lodge at 7:30 AM to head to the Uganda Wildlife Association (UWA) office for a briefing before embarking on your Gorilla trekking experience. The drive from the lodge to the UWA office is approximately 5 minutes long. The briefing/preparation meeting starts at 8:00 AM and lasts 15-30 minutes.
Gorilla trekking itself does not have a specific time frame because the animals move quite a bit. It could take only a few hours or half a day. It is considered a full-day activity. When you find the gorillas, you’ll spend 1 hour with them. Head back to the park headquarters, where your driver will take you back to your lodge.
The Ishasha sector is located within Queen Elizabeth National Park. This part of the park is famous for its tree-climbing lions. Nobody truly knows why the big cats here prefer to spend so much time in the trees, but it is quite a treat to see them. After your game viewing experience, return to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.
Check out of your accommodation in Ishasha and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This park is famous for its magnificent views, vast plains, and wildlife.
On arrival, check in, have lunch, and then later go on a private boat safari on the Kazinga Channel. Enjoy drinks, snacks, and breathtaking wildlife and nature views. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Today, after breakfast, embark on an exciting hunt for Queen Elizabeth’s carnivores. The park runs a protection/conservation program for the wild lions and leopards, who are available for guests to track. During this activity, follow a renowned big cat expert to see the collared cats in their natural habitat.
Your participation helps keep nature’s most iconic carnivores protected. After this, transfer to Kibale Forest, the primate capital of the world. On arrival, check into your beautiful accommodation in the forest, and spend the rest of your day at leisure.
This morning, after breakfast, head out to the UWA headquarters for your chimp trekking activity. The forest here is famous for its large population of wild chimpanzees, whom guests can spend 1 hour viewing.
The trek starts off with a short briefing about the park and its inhabitants. After the trek, return to the lodge for some relaxation, or take a short walk through Bigodi swamp to see Kibale’s smaller primate population. Here, you will see the black and white colobus, red-tailed monkeys, L’Hoest monkeys, vervets, and other species.
After this, participate in the production of some amazing coffee, local banana wine, beer, and gin! Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Check out of your lodge at 6:00 AM and drive to Kasese Airstrip to catch your flight to Entebbe. On arrival in Entebbe, you will be received by one of our representatives and then start your journey east to Jinja, home of the source of the earth’s longest river. On arrival in Jinja, check into your accommodation right on the Nile River and enjoy the amenities.
Today, you have the option to spend your morning at leisure at the lodge or visit Jinja town on a short tour. During this tour, mingle with the locals, visit the markets, learn about Jinja’s British colonial history, and its significance to the Indian Ugandan community. Visit the source of the Nile on a boat cruise and have lunch near the river before returning to your lodge.
Check out of your accommodation this morning and head back to Entebbe to catch your evening flight back home.
